2 Jikoji Temple〈Japan Heritage〉

Jikoji Temple is recognizable for the impressive stone gate leading to the slope within the grounds. The temple houses a painting of the bodhisattva Fugen Enmyo, said to prolong life since medieval Japan and designated a National Treasure.

3 Manekineko Art Museum

Manekineko Art Museum, dedicated to the lucky beckoning cat, is a tiny establishment renovated from a private house dating to the Taisho period (1912–26). The first floor houses a manekineko shrine.

5 Senkoji Park & Temple

Senkoji Park serves as a symbol of Onomichi. In spring it offers a view of cherry blossoms selected one of the best hundred in Japan. And in autumn it stages the Onomichi Lantern Festival. Enjoy the vista of the four seasons along with the panorama from the summit.

6 Onomichi Historical Museum
(Former Onomichi Bank Main Branch)

Hiroshima Bank began in Onomichi. The port bristled with so many financial institutions, it was called a “bank beach.” Here, the former Onomichi Bank Head Office calls to mind Onomichi as a mercantile center.

7 Jodoji Temple〈Japan Heritage〉

Follow the Onomichi Channel into the port, and straight ahead lies this old temple with treasures of the Middle Ages. From the main hall, a wonderful national treasure, to the two-storied multi-treasure pagoda, the entire temple grounds are designated as a national treasure.
